Основания для этого действительно есть. Если верить Патентному ведомству США, как раз 20 января 2009 года компания Apple получила патент № 7,479,949, который покрывает различные применения технологии мультитач, включая навигацию, жесты и т.д.
Хотя в названии патента слово «мультитач» и не упоминается, однако в тексте патента всё описано довольно подробно.
